The link between genetics, the social and physical environment in which patients live and treatment of disease warrants the consideration in drug discovery and development. Within this context, is thus vital for Africans to build drug discovery and development capacity in close proximity to African patient populations to understand and meet the pressing health needs of the continent. This lecture will describe the University of Cape Town Holistic Drug Discovery and Development (H3D) Centre, and its programs and pipeline.
