Melanie Nicol, PharmD, PhD is an Associate Professor in the Department of Experimental and Clinical Pharmacology at the University of Minnesota. She received her PharmD degree from Ohio Northern University and a PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy. She joined the faculty of University of Minnesota in the Department of Experimental and Clinical Pharmacology in 2014. Research efforts in her lab are focused on identifying factors that influence efficacy of antivirals (and other anti-infectives in tissue compartments relevant for prevention, suppression of viral shedding, and eradication of pathogen reservoirs. Her translational lab uses a variety of research approaches with spanning from In vitro, ex-vivo, and clinical studies. She also oversees NIH-funded clinical studies in both Minnesota as well as Kampala, Uganda.
