Lois Setemi Akinola, Ph.D., completed her Post-Doctoral Fellowship in the Office of Clinical Pharmacology (OCP) at the FDA, contributing expert knowledge in preclinical pharmacology and toxicology to shape drug development and regulatory policies. As an ORISE Research and Policy Fellow, she examined issues related to scientific and regulatory best practices to inform the development and implementation of policy in the areas of precision medicine and pharmacogenomics. She received her Ph.D. in Pharmacology and Toxicology from Virginia Commonwealth University, investigating the behavioral and neurobiological mechanisms underlying nicotine addiction and dependence using genetic and pharmacological approaches. Holding dual bachelor's degrees in Chemistry and Forensic Science from the same university, Lois is dedicated to leveraging her expertise to foster positive advancements in pharmaceutical drug development and regulation.
