Graduate Research Assistant
Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, College of Pharmacy, University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center
During the undergraduate and master's program in Kyung Hee university, college of pharmacy in South Korea, I realized how fascinating pharmacokinetics is, considering it is based on mathematics and an objective perspective. After that, when I joined LG Chem Ltd, one of the biggest chemical and pharmaceutical company, working as a scientist in drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics fields, I came to understand the importance of statistics and modeling sciences in making my work more meaningful. I am currently pursuing PhD study under the supervision of Professor Bernd Meibohm at UTHSC, college of pharmacy. My previous experiences in pharmacuetical industry served as both inspiration and a strong motivator for personal growth, and the environment here, characterized by a free and goal-oriented atmosphere, makes it an excellent place to establish the foundations of pharmacometrics. Last summer, my internship at Takeda Pharmaceuticals provided me with modeling experiences not easily obtained in academic settings. It was an invaluable opportunity to learn how to approach problems, evaluate results objectively, and collaborate effectively with others, resulting in the achievement of the Presidential Trainee Award from ASCPT2024. Now, my goal is to communicate with more people, gain diverse experiences in the industry after graduation, grow into an expert in drug development, and ultimately acquire the expertise to be of help to others.
