Deok Yong Yoon received his PharmD and PhD in Clinical Pharmacology from CHA University and Seoul National University in South Korea, respectively. He was as a Postdoctoral Associate at the Center for Pharmacometrics and Systems Pharmacology, College of Pharmacy, University of Florida.
Throughout his career, Deok Yong has been dedicated to drug development, managing more than 10 phase 1 clinical studies, including First-in-human studies and conducting pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamics analyses as the main sub-investigator during his PhD. Expanding his research focus during his postdoctoral period, he delved into pharmacometrics, specifically contributing to the development of disease longitudinal progression models for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. This involved utilizing functional endpoints and quantitative magnetic resonance imaging biomarkers through a non-linear mixed-effect modeling approach.
He is currently Principal Pharmacometrician at Novartis Pharmaceutical Corporation. In this role, he is actively involved in planning, executing, and delivering modeling and simulation strategies within clinical development. Since 2019, he has been a member of the American Society for Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics and was honored with the Jason Morrow Trainee Award in 2023.
