Postdoctoral Fellow
Indiana University
Dr. Syed Saoud Zaidi is currently undertaking Clinical Pharmacology fellowship training at the Indiana School of Medicine, Indiana University. He obtained his doctoral degree in Pharmaceutics from the University of Florida (UF), USA , supported by a prestigious Fulbright scholarship. During his tenure at UF, Dr. Zaidi was privileged to work under the mentorship of two eminent scientists in the field of pharmacometrics, namely the late Dr. Hartmut Darendorf and Dr. Günther Hochhaus.
As a doctoral student under the guidance of Dr. Hochhaus, Dr. Zaidi's research primarily focused on the pharmacokinetics of inhaled corticosteroids in pregnant mice. His investigations also involved identifying the role of P-glycoprotein (P-gp) at the Blood-Brain Barrier and the fetoplacental barrier. Through his pioneering work, Dr. Zaidi elucidated mechanisms governing the restriction of steroid access in both fetal and maternal organs, contributing significantly to the understanding of drug transport across biological barriers during pregnancy.
