JANICE B. SCHWARTZ, MD, FACC, ASGF, FAHA, FACC is Currently Professor of Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco with appointments in the Department of Medicine Divisions of Geriatrics and Clinical Pharmacology. She is a board-certified internist and cardiologist and a geriatrician with significant experience in clinical pharmacology. She has been investigating the changes with aging that determine responses to therapeutic medications and ways to optimize medication use in older adults since the mid 1980’s—at UCSF, Baylor, Northwestern, and the Jewish Home of SF. She has been a member of ASCPT since 1988 serving on multiple committees, the Board, and annual meeting program Chair, received the 2012 William B Abrams Award in Geriatric Clinical Pharmacology and the 2019 Award for Excellence in Clinical Pharmacology from PhRMA, Foundation, Inc. She was an ORISE Visiting Professor in the Office of Clinical Pharmacology at the FDA from October 2019-November 2020 with the major goal of advocating for improving evaluation of drugs in older adults and co-chaired the March, 2021 FDA Workshop entitled “Roadmap to 2030 for Drug Evaluation in Older Adults.”
